It is customary to bow when you meet someone new and someone in the office.

The subordinate must bow lower than superior.

社内で社員の方とお会いした時お辞儀をします。

下の者は上の者より深くお辞儀をしなければなりません。

「年功序列」と言う考えです。

Receive a business card with two hands.

Take a good look at it before putting it into your card holder.

名刺は両手で受け取らなければなりません。

名刺入れにしまう前に、名刺に書かれている内容をよく見て下さい。

Don't slouch

座るときに、椅子に寄りかかってはいけません。

Pay close attention as the boss is speaking. However, constant eye contact is not necessary.

人が話している時は、よく注意をはらって下さい。

不必要なアイコンタクトはしないで下さい。

会社にふさわしい服装

Compared to western business culture, Japanese business attire is much more rigid. One is expected to arrive at work with dry hair, light make up, and cleanly shaven (for men).

欧米に比べて日本でのビジネスマナーは厳格です。

社員は髪を乾かし、薄化粧、髭をしっかり剃って出社しなければなりません。

Most women wear full skirt suits and panty hose to work.

Follow the dress code given by your company.

Do not wear too much makeup, or nail polish either.

殆どの女性社員はスカートスーツとストッキングを着用します。

会社のドレスコードに従って下さい。

過度な化粧や、マニキュアは厳禁です。

Don't wear colored tights and casual shoes and skirts

色付きのタイツや、カジュアルなスカート、靴はいけません。

For Men: Wear a full suit

Please keep your hair short and shave your beard, unlike the man in this photo.

男性はスーツを着用します。

長髪、髭は厳禁です。
